Forget Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Don’t even bother with the Biker Mice from Mars. If you were a really hip kid in the 1990s, then Street Sharks was the animated series for you. The show centred around four brothers who were transformed into half-man, half-shark creatures as part of an evil scientist's experiment. Absolutely totally different to Teenage Mutant Turtles which had four brothers transformed into giant turtles by experimental ooze!
Commemorate the 30th anniversary with Mattel’s RADICAL new Street Sharks collectable figures
After originally launching in 1994, Mattel is bringing the Street Sharks back for their 30th anniversary. The initial line-up includes the Street Sharks’ courageous leader, Ripster, who resembles a great white shark. He’s joined by his brother Jab, who looks like a hammerhead shark and, finally, the evil Killer Driller, who is a swordfish with a massive drill on his nose. The ‘90s sure were wild!
The figures all have play actions - like pulling on Jab’s right arm to unleash a powerful headbutt - and feature “lifelike” shark skin! In a nod to the original toyline, each shark is contained within a plastic cage which can be joined together with other cages to create a so-called “super container”.
The first wave of Street Sharks can be pre-ordered from websites like The Whole Shebang in the UK. Each retails for £28.99 and is expected to start shipping in July.

Who were the Street Sharks?
University professor Dr. Robert Bolton and his partner Dr. Luther Paradigm created a revolutionary machine called the “gene-slammer,” capable of transforming aquatic animals into anthropomorphic hybrids through DNA combination. When Bolton tried to stop Paradigm from using the device for personal gain, Paradigm turned his former ally into a hideous creature before converting Bolton’s sons John, Bobby, Coop, and Clint into the Street Sharks. An episode of the show would typically centre around Paradigm sending another of his mutated monsters to capture the sharks.
