Guernsey Stamps celebrate 200 Years of the RNLI

Guernsey Stamps have released a new set of 6 stamps to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

RNLI 200 Stamps

The new stamps depict the RNLI’s lifesaving past (and present) in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and have been produced in conjunction with the RNLI. The RNLI 200 stamp issue from Guernsey Post is 1 of 3 released by the Crown Dependencies of Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Jersey to celebrate the charity’s 200th anniversary.

The stamps show different RNLI lifeboats across the different lifeboat stations in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, including RNLB Roy Barker, RNLB Arthur Lionel, RNLB John Lockett and RNLB Spirit of Guernsey. Also depicted one of the stamps is the Gold Medal rescue to the ship Bonita, which was executed by RNLI volunteers from the St Peter Port lifeboat station in 1981. The final stamp shows a portrait of Sir William Henry, who founded the RNLI in 1824.

About the Royal National Lifeboat Institution

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was founded in 1824 and since then, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have rescued over 144,000 people. In 2024, The RNLI is celebrating its bicentenary and has planned a series of events and activities to mark this milestone.
